In 1978, we made our minds into acquiring a "SHOW
DOG", and to this day it doesn't seem odd that it all began as a
game, as mere fun... Things considered, how many have started out like
us? Something that soon turned into a very fond feeling, a path, strife
and joy. We'd thought on the Alaskan Malamute. However, some 'experts'
advised us not to breed these, for they were very wild--as they put it--,
dogs that shed hair every day of the year, had a gargantuan appetite,
and did not like children. We were a little scared for a slight moment...this
people were supposed to know. But. Who knows better than a breeder the
look in those eyes, ever safe, ever beautiful? Ignoring what we were told,
we bought our first bitch, SHASKY, who taught us (far
more than that bunch of books we read once and again) what makes us BE
a Malamute...and what a Malamute is himself: a joyful, loving, playful,
tender and smart friend; someone you can trust forever and stands tall
amidst others (and that at times can be really stubborn!).
Above
all, we learned that, with patience, you can easily educate--a dog from
which we can't stand aside. After SHASKY, many others
arrived with which we went on growing little by little (slowly, though
worthily); more Malamutes that brought us closer to the understanding
of their breed and breeding. And it was their friendship and unconditional
support, that made us proud winners, when our babe, ARAK DARK
KEENY (VYM) turned into WORLD INTERNATIONAL MEXICAN CHAMPION.
Yet, the process of growing doesn't stop nor disappear.
It's eternal, and
so we understood that we had to try what's out there. In out attempt to
contact foreign breeders, with the unique desire to renew ourselves, we
realized that not everybody wishes to share their blood, trying to send
us Malamutes that were not as good as we've always demanded our dogs to
be. It was in that moment when GABRIEL got in touch with
MAUREEN ANDERSEN (KEIKEWABIC'S KENNEL) in Canada, who,
although with a slight dread, sent us a beautiful bitch KEIKEWABIC'S
ARAK VYM so that we could become better breeders each day. And
to this day, she is someone who supports us endelessly, with her absolute
knowledge and friendship.
While
you read this, in ARTIC ICE MALAMUTES
we have five Canadian members, next to the born and bred by us, and with
huge pride we announce to have the most triumphant bitch in the history
of the Alaskan Malamute in Mexico: ARTIC
ICE POP.
